Harbert, MI

Harbert, Michigan

Once the resort of choice for Scandinavian families at the turn of the century, Harbert remains a sprawling village that encompasses the lakefront, as well as orchards and vineyards. Agriculture was, and still is, a vital component of the local economy. Properties run the gamut, from smaller homes in a variety of styles to larger newly constructed homes in developments with beach access. Harbert is a quiet village, with only a handful of commercial enterprises. Its greatest claim to fame: Carl Sandburg lived there for 15 years, winning prizes for both his goats and his book on Abraham Lincoln (the Pulitzer).
